How to cook kale by Ms. Newman's Class (2nd grade)

When our kale was ready we harvested it. We knew it was ready because it was purple and green and the leaves were big. We walked to the kitchen. Then we washed our hands. Next we washed the kale. We put balsamic vinegar, butter, salt, pepper, and water in the pot. After that we put the kale in the pot and turned on the stove. We cooked it for about 8 minutes. It tasted great!

I am growing radishes, tomatoes, peas, beats, potatoes, strawberries, and trelease. The most important part of keeping these alive is water and moist soil. Two of the best things about my garden is the compost and Lucy the owl. The reason I like the compost is because it has pretty flowers mixed in with it. The reason I like Lucy the owl is because she watches over my garden and scares away dangerous animals. I have been gardening for over two months and hope to garden next school year.

Cucumber Experiment by Bhadri Verduzco (Global Gardens Educator)

So, I did this experiment with one of my classes and the results are interesting and may help you keep your plants hydrated this hot summer.

We asked the question: "Will cucumber seeds germinate better if they are planted in a mound with a punctured coffee can full of water on top of the mound?" So we planted one mound like normal and for the second mound we punctured 4 very small holes in the bottom sides of a large coffee can and filled it with water. The water in the can drip-irrigated the mound. We watered both mounds daily and also filled the can daily. The mound with the coffee can germinated much quicker than the one without. I read that cucumbers do not germinate as well and can have their yield cut by as much as half if they don't have even watering as a seed. And the first claim so far seems to be true. The garden was born in 2007 it all started in Eugene field elementary school the kids were dress as farmer. The person was prowling the grass with a tractor. They had tools but not sheds to put up their tool up they use a cart to put up their tools. Crystal felt excited to come to global garden she made a lot of friends she had one sister and three brother. Today she goes to a famous school George Washington Carver middle school she’s, smart, funny and know how to garden .In 2008 Mrs. Smith was the global garden teacher their class room was at the nursery, trailer and, Mrs. Mary and Mrs. Miller classroom by the water fountain. Then we got the shed and we put are tools in the shed. Plus I haven’t started the global gardens yet .in 2009 I was in global garden in fourth grade Mrs. Oakley was are teacher but she had to go to the hospital to have her baby but Mr. Bhadri was the global garden teacher. And I started the global gardens after school program .in the summer program we had field trips like we went to the nature center to fid a mystery and solve the case plus we went to the farmer market we were passing out cards for the community day we got Italian bread and tomatoes and we sat down and we cut the bread and put tomatoes on it we got some watermelons from Dom, s and lovelle, s   garden .the Rosa parks kid came to visit for lunch we play games and show people around are gardens it was a hot summer day that day. Early that summer we had a sale at global gardens it was so hot in the morning we had flowers, cookies, and lemon bars and fresh corn and men’s ties we almost made100 dollars that day from the sale that day. Today Mrs. princess is the leader of after school program third grade –fifth grade my sister started the Global Garden that make me happy because the younger kids at school are gardening so if you are not in Global Garden one day you can be just like the gardener he at Eugene field elementary school

Doing so little to help so many

Hi there my fellow people. I 'm Ryah in Global Gardens. But this month we have been working on the best thing in the world. We're helping the homeless/making donation boxes/getting ideas to help others. Just not too long ago, we were on the news [News on Six].We are so happy to help others by doing just a little, to help so many others. Here are some pictures:

We have been interviewing the homeless here and there and [we have been trying to go to a homeless shelter for a field trip to just to help out with meals and to give them our boxes] .Sounds crazy right but we think we might enjoy it, and we are still trying to confirm that we are still going but until then we are making boxes and being as peaceful as possible and sharing the love.

We went to sat on the carpet and we had to wash them after that we tried them and some of us like it. I did. Last week we had harvest the radish. We have had a successful gardening season. Let me tell you about it. Our class planted kale, radish, and snap peas and we took care of our garden. We pulled out the weeds and we put compost and we put mulch. Then it took about two months to grow but we waited and we did not rush our garden to grow. Then we harvest the snap peas first and ate them. And when they die [from the cold] they were mushy. Then we harvest the radish and some of them look funny and we made some sauce and we ate them with the sauce and the kids that like them got to take one home to their family. And some of radish had frost on the top of the and one day we are going to harvest the kale and eat the kale. And I think it's going to be good because I love food from the garden.

We had a successful gardening season. Let me tell you about it. We harvested radish and we got to make Mr. Bhadri's dressing. And got to eat the radishes. We harvested snap peas but they feel like jelly. We planted kale, radish and snap peas. Our marigolds are still growing. And the rules in the garden is no running in the garden. Two is no yelling in the garden. 3 is watch out for plants. That's the rules. Mr Bhadri, it was really fun in the garden!!! We have sunflowers but they are dieing oh no!!! But we still have plants in our garden. In Global Gardens we plant lots of things like radish, snap peas and we have fun because it's cool learning about plants and animals and because it is so so fun at Global Gardens. Mr. Bhadri is very nice Global Gardens teacher and hie is very fun nice tall teacher. And he is very tall. So he can touch the sky and fly so so high. Global Gardens is very fun and so so nice. He lets us look and touch the plants so now you know why Global Gardens is fun.

We have had a successful gardening season. Let me tell you about it. Well, we harvested snap peas, and we weighed them. We thought that it was a pound but it wasn't. It was a half a pound. But all of us was really really close. Every one said that it was two or one pounds, but I said that it was two pounds. But the last time we went we harvest radish. We wash them and then we weighed them. And everyone said about five out of one but Mr. Bhadri [predicted] that it was about 2 pounds 4 ounces. He was so so so close. It was 2 pounds and 2 ounces. And then we took them in his kitchen and he cut them into little tiny pieces. And he made his really really cool dressing. What it had in it was mustard, olive oil and vinegar. Then he gave us all one fork to put the radish on the fork and then we got to dip it in the dressing and when everyone tasted it. I like it. Everyone like it. Mr. Bhadri gave us one whole radish because we like it.

Peas are sweet and crunchy. They're good to eat. They're called the candy of the garden. We worked very hard to grow them. We had some pea seeds and put them in the ground. Then they grew into pea vines. They grew up a tee-pee trellis made of bamboo. We watered them a little. Our garden is a very happy and healthy place. When we planted them, we planted them in squares. We used a stick to make rows for the seeds. Yesterday we harvested three each for a total of 63. They weren't even a pound. They were so green and looked like a banana or a quarter moon. Some of the seeds in the pea-pods were tiny and some were huge. They were juicy. For 14 of us, it was the first time to pick and eat peas in the garden. We planted these. Now you can try it!

You should go to Eugene Field's garden. I heard that it looks good. They grew some radishes and made a salad. They had mustard greens, radishes, and strawberries. It looked good. They were about to put peas on it, but they were not ready yet. When you pick the mustard greens you have to grab the bottom of the leaf and pinch it. When you see the radish shoulders all shiny you pull it out. The salad was so good. And remember that when you get done growing your garden and you pick it, you've got to wash it off before you eat it. I'm pretty sure your salad will be as good as ours, too. You will love it!

The Things That Global Gardens Can Show You by Ms. McClain's Class (4th)

There are a few things that we want to talk about before we get to the good part. This is our first time doing a blog together. We want to tell you about how the garden's growing, some advice we have, do's and dont's for gardening, and how to harvest.

The first thing to do if you're going to read this is remember to work together to get things done. That's what we did! Our garden is doing good. Everyone is good at planting. We love our garden so remember everyone practices teamwork. Before we started we had to pull the weeds with the roots. Because if not, the weeds would grow back again. Next, add compost to the soil to keep the plants healthy and give the plants nutrients and vitamins. Then you make your rows and plant your seeds in them. You can start planting whatever you want. We planted radishes, bok choy, mustard greens and snap peas. When we were making the salad I felt like a cool kid. After we harvested the veggies, we washed them. Then Mr. Bhadri cut it up and put it in the salad spinner. Then he picked gardeners to wash the produce and push the salad spinner 5 times. And then it was ready to eat. Then Mr. Bhadri picked a gardener to pass out the plates and forks. Ms. McClain had the dressing and put it on the salads. Then we waited for everyone to get served. And then we said a short blessing. Then we were ready to eat. The salad tasted wonderful. It was so good that it could make your tastebuds tickle! If you are ever looking for a salad dressing recipe come to Mr. Bhadri. He has the best homemade salad dressing.

Here's some advice:
1) If you want to plant make sure of what seeds you're planting.
2) Keep your garden clean no matter what -- make your garden shine!
3) Every time you harvest something always share with your friends.

A Garden Poem (Tues/Thurs After School Program)

The grass is green. I feel like I want to lean. The plants are brown and making people frown. My garden is cool. It makes me smile. The leaves are yellow and the fields are fallow. My garden is cool and so am I. But really my garden is warm because of the mulch. My garden has snow. It melts into water and makes it grow. My tree is cold and makes my garden gold. I'm growing radishes. Aren't they just dashing?

The Relaxing Garden Poem (Mon/Wed After School Program)

When I am down I go to my garden and lay on the ground. I smell the fruit and I'm filled with joy, once again. I see all the colors: red, purple, violet, orange, and green. It brings me laughter. The garden is a place to clear my thoughts, like putting plants in pots. When I look at my garden I see a rainbow of plants waiting to grow. The rain pours on all the colors of the flowers. I hear the birds chirping outside, coming to the garden. I see they're happy. The animals and insects make the garden come alive. The more you water your garden the more they grow and the better they show. I us an umbrella for the rain. The birds sit on top and watch it drain.

Ms. Jackson's Class makes mint oil! 2nd Grade

We made mint oil for our parents, so that if they have a headache they can use it. You can also use it for a toothache. The first thing that you can do to make mint oil is first plant the mint. When it all grows, you pick it, but only pick the greenest ones. Next, wash your hands and then the mint. Next, we should dry the mint by setting it on papertowel. Now put the mint in a ziplock sandwich bag. Hammer the mint in the bag to get the natural oil out of the mint. Next, put the mint into a clean jar. Next, put almond oil into the jar and fill it up to above the mint. Let it sit for 24 hours. Then, we took the lid off the jar and put cheesecloth on it and turned it upside down. Repeat the process with the same oil three times.

Morning Glory Seed Hunt (After School Program)

Today after school it was just warm enough for us to go outside for a few minutes. So we decided to pick morning glory seeds. We had a competition to see who got the most morning glory seeds. There were a lot of morning glories on the fence. All 6 gardeners and 3 adults pitched in! We all loved picking morning glory seeds and spending time with our Global Gardens Family. Some of the gardeners got over a thousand seeds. Kaitlyn and Jordan's team collected 8 piles of 300 seeds. So we multiplied 300x8. And we got 3,200 seeds! Then we discovered we had 5 left over. So altogether we had 3,205 seeds! Devan and Asael's team collected 260 seeds! They divided them into fives. When they did that they had 52 piles. Eric and Kenny's team collected 5 piles of 300 seeds. So we added 300+300+300+300+300=1,500. Then we added 85 more seeds and we got 1,585! That's a lot of seeds! Altogether the student gardeners gathered 3,205+260+1,500=4,965! We're going to have a lot of morning glories next year!

The Best Salad Ever Part 2 by Ms. Hurt's Class (4th grade)

It was good. I loke how we plant the lettuce and radish with Mr. Bhadri. It was the best day. I like when we ate the lettuce and radish and the carrots are not ready. -Michael

Great Tips for Growing Lettuce by Mrs. Turner's Class (3rd Grade)

On November 23, 2009 we planted lettuce and learned about how it can grow. Our class had never planted lettuce before. You should go look at it. It is growing nicely. If you want to grow some here's what you have to do:
1) Soften your soil with a hoe.
2) Once the soil is fluffy ad compost.
3) Make the soil flat with a rake.
4) Make sure the lettuce is not too close together. It needs about 6 inches to grow.
5) Now sprinkle the seeds on the soil.
6) Then write lettuce on a label so you know where you planted.
7) Be careful with the seeds. They are small easy to lose.
8) Rub the soil with your hands.
9) Be sure to take care and water it at least once a day when it's young.

Once you've done this you've planted it. You will one day see it has two leaves. It should take about a week. When it fully grown you can pick it, wash it and then eat it!

This past August 2009 we planted radishes and lettuce with Mr. Bhadri. In a couple of weeks or so we saw sprouts. It rained a lot this summer. The rained helped the roots to grow and we didn't have to water much. So our plants would grow better we pulled weeds, composted and took good notes. Finally in late November we harvested our radishes. Next we washed the radishes at the Harvest Market. Then we pulled off the leaves and ate them with ranch. They had an unusual flavor. They tasted spicy and were crunchy like candy. If you haven't tried radishes you should! Thanks for reading our blog.

One day we made squash bread. We made it at the Harvest Market Store. We made squash and not another kind of bread because we grow squash in our Global Garden. Our squash is huge. It weighed 5 pounds! We had to have a recipe to make it. We had two groups of ingredients. One was the wet ingredients and one was the dry ingredients. Then we mixed them together. After we baked it, we ate it. It tasted like squash mixed up with bread. It also tasted like cinnamon and sweet bread. We had so much that we shared it at the community garden day!

It is a big grocery store. People can buy stuff in the grocery store. I like it. The whole schools likes it. It's a great store.

The Lion Under the Trailer, a fiction story by Jordan, fifth grade

One time at Global Gardens me, Loreal, and Lovelle went hunting for my cat. Not killing them of course, which would be hunting, but looking. When we went to look under the trailer all the sudden we saw two big yellow eyes staring straight at us, VERY wide and VERY big! Staring straight at us as if it was going to POUNCE on us! A mysterious storm blew in, and all of the sudden the eyes ran straight at us! It was crawling so close I could see its snout. I was terrified, I ran and ran until my feet were tired. It followed me. I looked back, it was ready to ponce on me. But at that moment Mr. Bhadri came with the bamboo sticks and protected me. And after the last pounce it accidently jumped over us. mr Bhadri gave me a bamboo stick and I hypnotized it to go back where it came from. The lion went home until the next time someone went under the trailer. Mwa-ha-ha!!!

Mrs. Lenard’s Class: No not really we have whole bunch of plants. We went out to the garden last week and cleared it out.

Mrs. Warnke’s class: What kind of flowers do you have?
Mrs. Lenard’s Class: We currently have a sunflower, passion fruit vine which is native to Oklahoma.

Mrs. Warnke’s: What makes your garden so special?
Mrs. Lenard’s: We have different plants. We shaped our garden to show the state of Oklahoma. Our short term goals we are going to create mountains and rivers in our garden. We researched Oklahoma geography and found out where the Arkansas River and the mountains in Oklahoma are located. We are going to place Lake Eufaula on our map because that is the largest body of water in Oklahoma. Our garden is going to a visual map of Oklahoma.

What is growing on the Passion Vine? Fruit and white really cool flowers.

Why did you pick Oklahoma to be your garden Theme? We thought it would be a really cool idea. We brainstormed a large list of ideas and we decided all the ideas could be placed in the Oklahoma garden. We wanted to create a living map and learning tool to create our garden.

Are you going to cut a river into the garden and fill it with water to create water? We are going to use marbles blue and clear to create the effect of a river.

What plants are you going to plant in our garden? We are going to plant items that grow in Oklahoma.

What are you doing in your garden? We are planting berries like strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and grapes.

What do you have in your garden? We have sunflowers, and a large variety of berries.

What makes your garden special? We have very large sunflower. We have berries and grapes. We have items that can feed a person if they were hungry. Our garden is very healthy. We are trying to figure out how the sunflower appeared?

What does the garden look like? We do have a few weeds; we have some blackberries with thorns.

Do you have carrots? No we have Berries and one sunflower. We do have some fruit trees around our garden.

Are you going to add river or pond? No we do not want to hurt our plants roots.

Do you grow anything else besides berries? No we only have berries and one sunflower.

Do you have any animals in your garden? No maybe occasionally a frog might hop by… We estimate about 200 frogs may be hopping about in the entire garden.

The garden is really nice. And I mean really nice. We have a teachers sweat award and a kids sweat award! Its where the people who work very hard, the others will vote for who wins the kids sweat award. The teachers sweat award is when the kids give the teachers flowers or mint for the teachers sweat award.
My pen pals name is Connor. He is really nice but I haven't heard from him ever since I got his first letter.
In my garden I have so much mint that I can't take it any more! It is filling my garden! Its just like a big, huge plant in the middle of my garden, all the way to the edges! And I also have strawberries, and I have frogs!!! I planted lavender. I planted some radishes, red and white ones, of course, I really love to plant flowers and i have two types of flowers, one of them is a sunflower. The second one is a mystery flower. I don't know what type it is. If I get another seed packet of that mystery flower, I really love it.
When ever I see my garden at night it looks so beautiful! And I really love the mint that's in my garden, I love to eat it! Its really, really tasty. My garden has the most mint in the Global Gardens. And frogs are really really cute, and watch them just catch a bug is so cool!! :)

Greetings!! We are Ms. Lenards 4th grade Global Gardeners. We would love to share some of our experiences and experiments with you.. so pull up a comfy toadstool and let's chat!!
Our class is very thankful for our garden. Gardening has taught us many valuable lessons. We have learned about teamwork, sportsmanship, kindness and generosity. We would love to have you join us in the wonderful world of gardening. All you need is a little dirt, a few seeds a lot of faith and strength and courage.
Our garden plot has an Oklahoma theme. All our plants are native to our beautiful state. We have Indian Blankets, sunflowers, black-eyed susans and purple cone flowers. We also have a passion vine and that's where our experiment begins. We are experimenting with worm castings{ That's a fancy name for worm poop! It will make our vine grow faster than just regular soil. Unfortunately neither vine is doing well at this time. we are not sure if the worm castings have anything to do with this or if we damaged the vine when we transplanted it..

How our garden changed

Our garden changed a lot. I went outside to our garden and I found bulbs!!!!!! I saw my tulips,daffodils,crocus's and more! Also all my plants have came back to life from the winter especially my pansies they look beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! They look a lot more better from the winter they looked dead when it was winter but now they look great. My chive I have a lot more chive leaves!!! and I picked a radish and it was huge!!!!!! My lettuce has grown so big I can almost have a salad. Although everything in my garden is growing. My fall plants such as my kale is dying out because it is not cold anymore. But it is okay because I have a lot more plants growing. Such as my mint it has spread all over my garden. I have so much stuff in my garden that before we planted the bulbs I had to dig up more to my garden so I could all the bulbs I wanted in. It was a lot of work to plant them but it was definitely worth it. I hope you are able to take a look at them. I hope you enjoy them. Bye

Introducing…Licorice Pesto!!! Lests See, oh! You want to make some, eh? Well, we’re experimenting with fennel seeds. Pesto, so…it’s gonna taste pretty strong. First, you need 1 cup of clean basil. Then you need ½ cup of parmesan cheese (real deal). You also need 1 cup of olive oil, 6 cloves of garlic, and tons of fennel seeds! Oh and you’re gonna need a blender, a cup and a half cup to measure. Okay you got what you need so lets get to experimenting! Plug the blender into the wall (don’t turn on!) Then measure 1 cup of Basil and pour it into the blender. Then measure ½ cup of parmesan cheese and pour it into the blender too. Next put 6 cloves of garlic in. Almost there, just measure 1 cup of olive oil and pour it in there. Finally, dump your fennel seeds right in there. Now, turn on the blender! Well, hope it tastes good!

We made an experiment. We put seeds in the pots. Some seeds were on the very top of the soil, and some were on the very bottom. We also put some seeds in the middle. Then, we put the pots near the window so they can get sun. Some seeds were one inch from the top and one inch from the bottom.
We are trying to find out if they will grow. We took votes on which ones would grow.
Here is our hypothesis:
Beans on top of the soil: 2 people think they will grow
Beans one inch from the top: 8 people think they will grow
Beans in the middle of the soil: 9 people think they will grow
Beans one inch from the bottom: 5 people think they will grow
Beans at the bottom of the pot: 8 people think they will grow

Ms. Lenard's class discovery

Hello, this is Ms. Lenard's fourth grade class. We grew a passion vine in our garden. A butterfly visited our passion vine and layed some eggs. The eggs hatched and we have some caterpillars on our vine. One of the caterpillars was very big the first time we saw it, and the next time we saw it again it was in Nicole and Ali's garden and it had made a chrysalis. A chrysalis is something a caterpillar makes so it can turn into a butterfly. Can you believe it? It is true. We are the only class who has caterpillars in our garden. A couple of our students went to the garden and dug up a small passion vine. There were two caterpillars and one egg on it, and we brought it into our class. That day we put it in an aquarium so we can watch it grow and change. The butterfly laid her eggs on the passion vine because she wanted her babies to eat the leaves of the passion vine, because they need passion vine to live. Our class has been working in the garden, last year Ms. Lenard's fourth grade class planted the passion vine. Come by our classroom or garden and see the wonderful thing that is happening with the fourth grade class!!

I loved pesto making.
My favorite thing was to cut the the basil and grate the cheese. I loved to do the sale it was awesomeness!
The Philbrooke Museum was beautiful. I felt very smart when I found out that it used to be a house! And that the air was through the trees!
Making the birdbaths was great, it was really fun when I got to put it out.
I loved watching the video clip. I learned about the anther and the ovary.
One of my favorite day's was today. I went to my garden and found out that I had a giant cantaloupe. I felt great! The day was kind of windy. i felt like a dandelion getting softly blown.

Daniel's report of today and yesterday

Today the storm was bad and windy. I think the garden is going to flood today. I think there will be a big pond. We looked at the street and it looked like a big flood. Then we looked in the sky and it was black as heck. Yesterday I worked hard in the garden. I cut some deadheads. Deadheads are flowers that are dead, on healthy plants. The plant is giving energy to the dead flowers to make seeds and that takes up too much energy from the plants, so we cut the off so that they plant will make more flowers. I got to paint the picnic table that I have been painting. Quanah was not there to help. Yesterday we got to see our pictures that we made, not colored or glued, we used a camera!

The weather today is thunder stormy. Today is July 12th, 2007, Thursday. Today we finished our tomato project. Last Thursday we took votes to see which tomato would ripen first. There were choices of: the window, the window in a brown bag, open on the table, clear bag by the window, covered in a black container on the bookshelf, in a cup of water in the bathroom, in the dark closet open in a box, inside a clear bag which was inside a paper bag in the dark closet. Those were the choices we voted on. I am not going to tell you what the voes were because it will take up all the room on the blog. But the one on the bookshelf that no one voted for ripened first. Our hypothesis was that it ripened first because it was in a black container and black attracts heat. I think a lot of heat got in and not a lot of heat could get out. Stay tuned for more experiments with ripening tomatoes!

Diana's Update

From the starting of the summer program, some squirrels have been eating our tomatoes. We found out how to stop them from eating our tomatoes, using netting. I think the squirrels will stop eating our tomatoes. If it doesn't work then we will have to go with plan C. Plan C is to get a cage and if they come after the tomatoes the cage will trap them and we will put them back into the tree and they will warn all the other squirrels not to come near. We can put more shiny things to keep the birds away. The sun beats down on the shiny things and the birds won't be able to see where the tomatoes are because of the shiny things. The birds and the squirrels will not come back. If plan C does not work we will go with plan D, but we don't have one yet! We will figure out what plan D is going to be.

Summer Garden by Alexus

We started a summer program for all Global Garden kids to join in on projects and to take care of the garden. One thing we discovered is squirrels and birds have been eating our tomatoes. Today we made birdbaths out of flowerpots! We are making mosaics on the birdbaths. Yesterday, a photographer came to our classroom and told us about all different kinds of cameras and she told us how to work them and how to take pictures and to use light. Its all about light! We each got a disposable camera and we can take 27 pictures and we are going to make a calendar or a photobook. Tomorrow we are going on a fieldtrip to the Linneaus garden to look at their beautiful garden.
We hope it stops raining so much!

Reflecting on the last 6 months

Today is the second day of the Global Gardens summer program and I have just been reflecting a bit on the year and all that has happened since I began working with the Eugene Field students back in January. The students have been incredible and inspiring with their commitment, creativity, and motivation, both in the classroom and in the garden. Just 6 months ago, they started with pages full of ideas, drawings, and dreams, and they now have a beautiful garden space filled with color and life! It has been so inspiring to watch these students believe in themselves and their community as they work together to create something that they have become so proud of. Ms. Newman's Class's Literary Garden Update

Our plants are growing! Our beans are growing. Our sunflowers started from seeds and now they are about eight inches tall. One pepper is ready to pick because it is shiny and red. Our strawberries are growing bigger, and some have greenish yellow strawberries. They are not ripe yet. Our turnip seeds have germinated and have grown! Our watermelon is growing, too. We have two watermelon plants, one was a plant and one was a seed. Both are growing. Our garden is no longer a rectangle of dirt! We planted a pumpkin seed and now it is larger! Our carrot seeds have sprouted. One green pepper was ready and we took it inside and everybody got a little taste of it. We voted and 13 people liked it and 11 did not like it. Now that everything is growing in the garden, we will soon be able to eat it and our garden will look beautiful! Thank you for reading this, we hope you come and see our garden and have a nice day!

Ms. Lenards Fourth Grade Class Garden

Some of our plants are blooming! Some of the plants are getting bigger. The class voted to see if we wanted OK or OU written in plants, and we voted for OU. Then Ms. Lenard asked us what color we wanted to plant and most of the students wanted red and white. We ended up planting the O in red begonia's and the U white begonia's. Then we had 4 students who painted our garden sign, its in the shape of Oklahoma. We planted a lot of plants since we started the garden. Ameristar Fence Company donated a fence for our Global Garden. Lately, we planted a golden rod, indigo bush, passion vine, and blazing star. We put some stepping stones in our garden so that we have a place step when we deadhead. We wrote a letter to Ms. Lenard's fourth grade class for the fall and we told them about the garden. We want to thank Ms. Brady, who brought us some mulch, the stepping stones, and the wood for the signs. Thank you for helping our Global Garden!!

Alexus's Saturday Community Day report

This last Saturday, the first thing I did was I saw how much my morning glory has grown. Then I asked Daniel what he was doing and I asked him if I could help him paint his picnic table. He said yes so I was doing that for a while and I looked at my garden and I talked to Dr. Rippy and watch him help make the stepping stone. I was surprised about the fence and Ms. Oakley told me that they dug holes 3 feet deep into the ground. We will have towo gates in the fence and we want to put a ramp for people in wheelchairs. I enjoyed being in the garden on Saturday and I felt happy and surprised that my morning glory had grown so much!

Tamara's Update, 4th grade

Recentally Global Gardens has been plainting and making signs. First Mrs. Brady brought wood and stakes plus nails, then they drew what shape they wanted their sign to be shaped like. After they traced it it out they in sharpie then Mrs. Brady cut it out and put the stake on it. Also, on Saturday they stared to make the fence, which was donated by Mr. Gibbs and Ameristar Fence, it would have cost a lot of money. They kids will be sending him a thank you card for his generousity.

We have noticed big changes in the garden. Our plants are growing big and strong. We have also noticed that our tomato plants have little tomatoes on it too. Most of the other plants have started growing flowers on them. I think all of the other gardens are growing beautifully.
